Day 6 - Friday, September 25th
~ Crystal Palace, Magic Kingdom, Whispering Canyon Cafe~

Friday, September 25th

Well, this day is seriously lacking pictures and details so I will do my best to cover it all! At the end I will post all of the Magic Kingdom Halloween decoration pictures I took throughout the week since they deserve their own section.

On with the show!

Today we had an early breakfast pre-park opening at Magic Kingdom. We got up, had a snack and got out the door pretty much in time to get on the bus to the Magic Kingdom.

We got there in time but my sister and the rest of the gang were stuck at a ticket window because there was something wrong with their tickets. We were late for breakfast at this point but were able to see some of the opening ceremony which was cool. We watched some of that but I advised that we get moving to get a head start before they started letting everyone in. Well, about halfway down Main Street I swear to you we looked back and people were RUNNING down Main Street! It was nuts! What were they running for? Somebody needs to tell these people that being the first of the day on Dumbo is not all it is cracked up to be.

We checked in at Crystal Palace and in the meantime we sent EB off to get Splash Fast Passes for everyone. Of course they called us while he was gone so we had to wait about five more minutes before we were able to be seated. We were so behind on our schedule and the plans I concocted that all I could think in my head was "grains of sand - grains of sand"!

Well, we were seated on the left side of the restaurant and a couple of characters came right off the bat. We saw Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eyeore throughout the meal. The kids enjoyed it and collected some signatures.

After breakfast the rest of the day is a blur. I will do my best, though, to remember as I do remember some things but not all. I believe we first headed toward Tomorrowland to take the back path to Toontown. The plan was to split up and let the girls see the Fairies. Tammy and EB took the girls there and ended up in the line for the Princesses instead because the Fairy line was posted as 60 minutes. After the Fairies they went on Barnstormer. In the meantime, me, Ernie, Kris and my Mom went for a loop on the Train around the park. It was hot - I thought this would give us an enjoyable breeze but it didn't. We still sweat like crazy!

After our loop we decided to ride Pooh, which ended up having a bit of a wait but that was ok. In the meantime we got a call from Tammy and EB and they were going to let the kids play in Pooh's Playful Spot for a bit until we got off the ride. We met up with them about 20 minutes later and everyone was exhausted and sweating badly. Everyone wanted a rest. The kids ran through the water area and we then split up. Tammy and the rest went back to their resort while we opted for using our Splash Fastpasses. The four of us headed over there and Amelia and I went on the ride. The posted wait time I remember was something like 45 minutes at that point - I would have never waited in that line! With our Fastpasses we pretty much got right through and both Amelia and I were praying to get really wet! But alas we barely got a spot on ourselves. Bummer. From there we met up with EB and Ernie and  headed out of the Magic Kingdom.

We went back to the room, got cleaned up and decided to have a somewhat early dinner/late lunch and let the kids chill out and hopefully get to sleep early. We got to Whispering Canyon Cafe and checked in without an ADR and were given a pager. We waited about 20 minutes in the lobby while Ernie ran around like a madman and I chased him. Seriously, it was insane. When my kids are tired they go on overdrive rather than crashing and becoming lethargic. I was seriously doubting him sitting for a meal at this point. Luckily we were close to our villa so a quick exit would be easy.

Our waiter was very nice and quick, as well. We ordered the chip and cheese/salsa appetizer and ended up not being able to eat the queso because it had beef in it. I'm not sure what I was thinking! Duh! Our waiter ended up bringing us extra salsa which was so garlicky and so good! I had the quinoa cakes and loved them. I do not remember at all what EB ordered! But the kids shared a pasta dish. Ernie barely ate, though, which was to be expected in his exhausted state. Amelia did the pony race which she really enjoyed and Ernie continued to throw toys, food, etc. and totally meltdown with exhaustion. We very quickly ate and got out of there. Overall, we enjoyed the food and hope to eat here again. It was our first time eating something other than breakfast and it was great.

Back at our room it was about 4pm so we let the kids play a bit. During this time, I graded, did other work and laundry. We were all feeling sleepy but by about 4:45pm I started cooking the lasagna I had bought. My Mom, sister and family would be coming over for dinner. They arrived at about 5:30 and we enjoyed the lasagna and garlic bread. It was a good time and also a money saver. It helped them as well being on the dining plan because they didn't then have to use up a counter service for dinner and are able to save it for another day.

After they left we got Ernie ready for bed and he was down by 7pm. EB then took Amelia to the pool for a bit while I continued laundry and classwork. Amelia was in bed by 9pm and we all hit the pillow pretty hard tonight.

Tomorrow would be a full day at the Animal Kingdom so rest was essential tonight!
