Travel Day -

We planned on leaving by 3pm right when my workshift ended but at that point I still was not done getting our belongings together and Ernie was still napping. At 3 I proceeded to run around like a chicken with my head cut off and get the last our stuff together as well as finish the laundry. In fact, when I left I still had a load of towels running through the dryer. Michelle our house and dog sitter was due to arrive a little later that day to stay for the week. She’s really great with the girls. We pack up the CRV and headed out by 4:20pm. It's about a 2 and a half hour drive to Philadelphia's airport. Luckily EB had already filled up the car so we didn’t have to stop for gas and we were on our way. At about 5:15 we hit Allentown and decided it was a good time to stop for dinner. This way we would have dinner at a normal time and avoid the rush hour traffic getting closer to the airport. That road is normally back to back traffic at this time of day. I had to look for a bank, as well because I had to make a deposit. We got off the turnpike and found a Red Robin (a family favorite). The kids were a bit rambunctious and there was actually a character there – Red. He/She was a bit lame but both Amelia and Ernie got a huge kick out of him. I was actually relieved that Ernie was laughing and calling after him because EB and I were wondering if he’d be afraid of the costumed characters this time. Phew!
After EB gave the kids a bath, I nursed Ernie and laid him in the crib. He fell asleep quickly. EB, Amelia and I shared the king bed in the main bedroom. She goofed around a bit before finally falling asleep. I’m sure it was a combination of unusual circumstances, tiredness and excitement for our trip to begin.
Off to bed now. Tomorrow will be here soon and we had to be up and out by 5:30am. :)
