Friday, December 19th
Ernie was up very early at 5:48am, therefore, so was I. He and I
hung out in living room for a bit. I got our park bag packed and
started to get some breakfast together. About 30 minutes later,
Amelia woke up as well. We all ate a light breakfast, the kids
played, I did laundry. I absolutely love having the washer and
dryer right there in our villa. I know most people loathe doing
housework while away, but I really do not mind. This means we
get to pack much less clothing and have an almost endless supply
of freshly clean clothes.
We
packed up around 9:15 we headed to the Polynesian Resort to see
if they could take us for breakfast earlier than our 10:30am ADR.
Otherwise, we didn’t have much to do in the meantime since we’d
not have time to get to the Magic Kingdom for opening as
originally planned and we did still want to try Kona Café. When
we got to the Poly and requested an earlier dining time, they
seated within 5 minutes! Yeah! That worked out very nicely.

Kona
Café is a neat place – it was our first time eating here. I had
heard many wonderful things about Kona but the breakfast menu is
the only thing that tempted us to dine here. EB had eggs
Benedict, Amelia had Mickey pancakes, I had scrambled egg
whites. Ernie fussed, nursed and took fits here and there. The
boy has been refusing to sit in a high chair lately. I don’t
know what it is but he just wants to be out and about or to be
held. He absolutely flips when trying to put him in a high
chair. You have to trick him with a distraction to actually get
him to sit. And even then you are on borrowed time until the
next flip out. Oh well. He’s only 1 year old so it’s ok!

In
addition to the egg whites, I also had a protein smoothie which
was really yummy. The breakfast potatoes are excellent, as well.
The kids enjoyed the fruit – Amelia especially enjoyed the
pineapple. Our waitress was really nice and friendly, as well.
After settling the check and making a bathroom run for everyone
we walked around the lobby of this very beautiful resort and
took some pictures of the many gingerbread houses they had on
display.

Afterwards, we got on the monorail for MK and arrived around
10:30am. Ernie was definitely ready for a nap!
After entering the bustling MK (you can tell that holiday crowds
were beginning to arrive), we got fast passes for Buzz Lightyear
because there was already a 20 minute wait. We hate waiting in
lines! Can you say spoiled? It’s hard when you know the
tricks to touring to actually wait in a line of any kind.
Thank
you Tour Guide Mike!
After grabbing the FPs, we thought we’d go to Monster’s Inc
Laugh Floor – mainly by Amelia’s request. She really likes this
one and we enjoy it as well. Ernie never made it past the queue,
though, and EB left with him before we got through. I stayed
with Amelia and we texted a joke which was used in the show.
Amelia got a kick out of that!
Ernie was still awake when we exited so we went on the TTA
twice. He fell asleep at the end of the first loop so we stayed
on for a second ride. It was nice. I love the classics!

Amelia and EB then did Buzz Lightyear with the Fastpasses. They
had fun! I was ok with skipping this one because I’m not a huge
fan of the ride. Is it bad that I think it’s boring?
Now
on to Carousel of Progress - another classic! I found a new
Hidden Mickey I had not seen before in the first scene. Amelia
even likes this one and she calls it the spinning wheel ride.
After a potty break we headed over to Toontown via the back of
Tomorrowland path. It was nice, quiet and shady back there. We
made a note of that to ourselves for future quiet time usage.
The kids sometimes need that. Ok, we sometimes need that!
We
then split up since Ernie was asleep. Amelia and EB went in
Minnie’s House and then on Barnstormer. Ernie and I walked up to
get Fastpasses for Peter Pan since I knew Amelia would be
requesting it later on as we passed by. Return time was 3:05pm.
On
the way back toward Toontown to meet back up with them I got a
frozen banana. Next to the Dole Whip float it is my favorite WDW
treat! Ernie was still asleep and it was about 1:15pm. I sat
outside the face painting area where it was shady and ate my
banana. It was quite hot out and I love it! About halfway
through he woke up and was miserable beyond belief. He didn’t
even want any of the frozen banana. I quickly finished it and
took him for a diaper change. Then EB called and we met up with
them. It was time for some lunch. Perhaps some food is what he
needed.
We
walked over to Columbia Harbour House and went upstairs. I got
the Lighthouse Sandwich and an order of fries, EB got a 3-piece
fried fish meal with fries. We also got a kids mac n cheese,
apple sauce, grapes and a milk. Funny enough, this meal was more
expensive than Kona Café! It was good, though, as usual. Ernie
refused to sit in the highchair, again. So after much
trouble I just held him on my lap and he eventually started to
pick. He has not been eating well the last couple of days.
After lunch we went on It’s a Small World. The kids really
enjoyed it and we weren’t too annoyed. Although, it was a bit
annoying that it was about a 10 minute wait to even get on!
Yikes! I cannot believe the crowds already.
After that we went up to Tinkerbelle’s Treasures because we
promised Amelia if she behaved she could get a Tinkerbelle doll.
She immediately picked out the doll she wanted (to the day I
write this she has been attached to that doll so it was well
worth the money) and we headed to Peter Pan to use our
Fastpasses.
We
were 5 minutes early but the nice CM let us get in line anyway.
That’s a first. They’re usually pretty strict about that stuff.
After Peter Pan we decided to head out of the park. We knew the
Share a Dream Come True parade was happening at that point so we
went the long way through Tomorrowland and then over to Main
Street to exit. It was a really nice walk. We love the Magic
Kingdom.
We
hopped on the monorail and headed back to the Polynesian, got
our RAV-4 and drove back to Saratoga Springs.
We
were supposed to eat at Jiko at 5:30 but I called Disney Dining
and was able to reschedule that dinner for a couple nights from
now.
EB
made a spaghetti, garlic bread and Boca Chick patty dinner for
us and it was pretty good! It’s great and so incredibly
convenient to have the full kitchen in our villa. We love DVC!
We
got the kids a bath around 6:45pm and I got Ernie to sleep by
7:30. Amelia fell asleep around 8:30. I worked on the two
courses I’m currently facilitating and EB ran out for some food.
We got hungry again! He ended up going over to DTD and
getting some takeout from Wolfgang Puck’s. He got some sushi for
himself and I had some white rice, edamame and miso soup. It was
good!
A good
ending to a great day!
